NFL Free Agency: Dontari Poe to Falcons another DT domino

NFL Free Agency: Dontari Poe to Falcons another DT domino

The Falcons signed Poe for one year, $8 million, plus incentives that could bring the total to $10 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

On his five-year career, Poe has 202 tackles (156 solo), 13 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 12 passes defensed. "He will add to our defensive line group and will mix nicely with Beasley, Jarrett, Shelby and Clayborn". Poe was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2014. As long as that line of communication is open, I'd like to have him back.

But there appears to be a catch, and a high-priced one at that. It comes through at his press conferences, and it sounds like it comes through when talking to players.

The Ravens made finding a cornerback a priority this offseason, and Carr, a nine-year veteran, fills the void.

The biggest weakness of the 2016 Falcons season was their inability to stop the run and the need to consistently sub in and out defensive lineman.

Webster was a key special-teams contributor with the Broncos.

But he had back surgery to fix a herniated disk in the summer of 2015. By joining the Falcons, Poe is reunited with the general manager who first selected him, Scott Pioli. Zuerlein was solid last season, hitting 19 of his 22 field goal attempts.

Right now is really not the time for the Dolphins to search for a defensive tackle that they expect to start or rotate with Phillips. Dunbar spent his first five National Football League seasons as a backup with the Dallas Cowboys, carrying the ball just 94 times.
