We killed the game perfectly.

If Lukaku does get his wish to join a bigger club, it could be Everton's emerging young talents who fill his boots and Calvert-Lewin underlined his promise in the ninth minute. I spoke to Rom this morning and I know it is hard but if you are a player prepare yourself to play good and score goals.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has stated that Ross Barkley will be sold during the summer should he not commit to a new deal with the club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin's first goal for the club, in only his sixth Premier League appearance, gave Everton an eighth-minute lead but it was not until substitute Enner Valencia added the second, after Tom Huddlestone was sent off for a high tackle on Idrissa Gana Gueye, that the result was secured. 'If we can move on and get in what we want to make the team really strong, I think we can battle with them, yes. Everybody knows you can't do this in one year, it takes time. You can't do it one year, and we try to get the best players, but a lot of them like to play in the Champions League and we are still not playing there'. There is always competition.

'I think we can make the next step next season, ' he added. I am not afraid because the player has two years left on his contract. Lukaku then took centre stage to register his 20th and 21st league goals of the season, the first time an Everton player has reached that tally since Gary Lineker in 1985-1986 - 31 years ago.

"What you don't like every day talking about his contract".

The win puts Everton tantalisingly close to the top four, five points behind Liverpool with the Merseyside derby at Anfield up next after the global break.
