AAP debacle to affect prospects in civic polls

The state registered 77.37 percent polling in the high-stakes assembly elections where the SAD-BJP, Congress and the AAP are locked in a fierce triangular contest. "Grand Padyatra will be undertaken by the party workers from Chakala office to Juhu beach from 4 pm to 7pm". We were asked to prepare for a celebration like never before.

After Congress' continual failures since 2014 Lok Sabha elections, AAP had expected to become an alternative party and block Narendra Modi's bid in the 2019 general elections.

"The numbers started to change by 9:30 am". First, it would establish AAP as a party than can rule and not just confront.

"We will decide on our strategies in the days to come but now all efforts will be concentrated toward winning MCD elections", an AAM party insider said. Ap-art from this, the party's inability to open an acco-unt in Goa is bound to have a bearing on the crucial civic polls in the city, political experts said.

Senior leaders will hold further discussions after Holi. Annoyed by the constant interference of the Centre in governing Delhi - something that Kejriwal had left no stone unturned to allege at every given opportunity - Punjab promised the party an opportunity to display whether it could govern a full state and how well it could do it.

Within two hours of counting, it was clear that the party would be relegated to second place in Punjab and face a complete washout in Goa.

Delivering on Punjab and governing it well would have done a world of good to the five-year-old party. The party, despite an impressive manifesto and campaign has to now consider its future in Goa. "Kejriwal has not been talking to him for a week now", said a leader. India now wants something different, more progressive and performance based party.

Conceding defeat, party spokesperson Rupesh Shinkre said that the party needed to work on ground to convince Goan voters next time round. "In fact, they did not even have the voter list of each constituency till about three days before the polling day, a practice that is done nearly a month ago".
