Cavs' Love out after knee surgery

Cavs' Love out after knee surgery

The Cleveland Cavaliers enter Wednesday's home game against the Indiana Pacers without Love, their All-Star power forward who is expected to miss up to six weeks following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday in NY.

Love was supposed to play the NBA All-Star Game this weekend but the Cavs on Tuesday announced that the power forward will miss six weeks after his knee surgery, which was performed by Dr. David Altchek. The Cavs said he will be sidelined approximately six weeks, which would have him returning by April 1. He is averaging over twenty points per game and earned his fourth All Star appearance, helping lead the Cavs to the top of the Eastern Conference.

One thing BPI doesn't know is the Cavaliers will probably get Smith back from his fractured thumb before Love returns. The Wine and Gold have also knocked down double digit triples in all seven games and have drained 15 or more three-pointers five times. Love was a double-double machine, averaging 25.9 points and 12.4 rebounds in 2013-14 - his final season with the Wolves.

The rumors will continue to spread, but Kevin Love is a Cleveland Cavalier and knee surgery isn't going to change that. Per, Cleveland has been outscored by 4.5 points per 100 possessions with James on the bench. One blockbuster trade though still remains, and that is the Carmelo Anthony for Kevin Love swap between the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cleveland has won four straight games at The Q and owns the best home record in the Eastern Conference and second-best home mark in the National Basketball Association at 23-5 (.821). The Cavs drained 16 long balls last week as they rallied past the Pacers with relative ease. We all did. It finally got back to the point where he felt like, 'validate myself once again in this league.' And then he has an injury again. "Which I love and I'm just trying to be right there with him as best I can". That should be enough for him to get consideration as the replacement for Love. "It's been great so far, with veteran leadership and guys that want to win every night".

Wiggins came to play Tuesday night.
