Muhammad Irfan among 3 more players questioned in PSL scandal

Pakistan internationals Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have been provisionally suspended from the Pakistan Super League as part of an ongoing anti-corruption investigation.

Pakistan's two opening batsmen in their nine-wicket Twenty20 win over England previous year have been provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board as part of a domestic match-fixing investigation.

Belongings of Muahmmad Irfan including his mobile phone would also be seized by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials, reportedly.

Amid speculations about PSL players' involvement in spot-fixing, he took to Twitter to clear the air and said no more player suspensions are envisaged during PSL, provided there is no new cause for action.

The other two players were left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar (Quetta Gladiators) and opening batsman Shazaib Hassan (Karachi Kings). "He does not face any immediate suspension".

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan launched a verbal volley at Pakistan Super League (PSL) chairman Najam Sethi, stating that it was a "joke" that a person being allegedly involved in election rigging, is eliminating spot-fixing from the country's cricket.

"Players should relax and play the game and bring joy to millions of fans at home and overseas", added Sethi. PSL chairman Najam Sethi, however, assured the completion of investigation in a few days.

Three of five suspects cleared by PCB's anti-corruption unit was posted in Sports of TheNews International - https://www.thenews.com.pk on February 11, 2017 and was last updated on February 11, 2017. "We are all absolutely committed to relentlessly pursuing anyone who would seek to damage the integrity of our sport", read the statement issued by PCB.

Convicted people were being made part of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he said, adding that Moin Khan was hired despite his casino scandal, he said. "The media has been irresponsible and already declared Sharjeel guilty", Sohail Khan said.

The team has played one match so far in the tournament.
