The McKinney Recreation and Park Department has something for everyone this winter.

For kids ages 5 to 13, winter active programs at 20 sites around the city will provide supervised activities on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning November 28 -29 and continuing through March 1.

Registration for the programs —one of which will be offered in McKinney at Alison Hall Playground, 15th and Pine streets — will be held on December 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at James Playground, James Street, and Sea Avenue. Applicants are accepted on a come and serve basis and must bring a $10 registration fee and proof of both McKinney residency and children’s ages. For more information call the James Playground Committee office during the working hours.

Teen singers, dancers, and actors ages 14 to 20 are also invited to audition for the Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company’s Winter workshop. Those accepted into the program, which is being co-sponsored by McKinney State College’s Theater Arts department, will be able to take classes in scene study, vocal lab, tap and jazz dance, and the technical aspects of theater.

The free workshop classes will be held January 5 through March 1. Thursday through Sunday at 2 to 5 p.m., at McKinney State Two productions, the hit Broadway musical 23 Pine Street and the original musical revue Comic Strip Broadway will be staged by students during the winter.

Auditions will be held at the Joan and James Recreational Arts Building, 113 Ashton St. (near Flowers For You), on Friday, December 9, from 5 to 6 p.m.; Saturday, December 10,  2 to 6 p.m.; and Wednesdays, December 14,  3 to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary. For more information about audition requirements, call the office.

Last but not least, Rec and Park will be offering painting and wrestling programs for kids.
